The fifth edition of a guide to aspiring authors that succeeds J.-L. Delblat’s Guide lire de l’écrivain, whose 2000 edition was noted in our Fall 2001 issue, s. v. “Deblat” [sic]. Contains selected annotated directories of publishers, literary agents, literary prizes, fairs, media outlets, sources of financial aid, associations, and libraries, as well as literary and legal advice, and relevant publishing statistics. The information on CALCRE is outdated and makes no mention of AUDACE, the evaluative directory of publishers. Includes an 8-item bibliography and an index of publishers. [JKL]

A deffence & illustration of the Gallic form of spoonerisms, yclept in their tongue contrepets by the columnist of “L’Album de la Comtesse”, which (un)covers the genre in Le Canard enchaîné. The first chapter bibliographically surveys the field from Rabelais (“des femmes folles à la messe” or...) to more contemporary texts, while the second chapter presents an array of mechanisms, decodings, and compositional devices, with the remaining chapters covering divers aspects and themes of the trope.
