Purpose and Origins
- To discuss topics of current interest pertaining to the acquisition, organization and use of Western European materials as these relate to the special situations of smaller library collections.
- Established in 1988, this discussion group has a chair and chair-elect.
- In November 2008, it was proposed that this discussion group be dissolved due to lack of consistent interest. Recent CML discussions at ALA Annual were barely attended, and those who did attend were often confused as to what the scope of this group actually was, or should be. ACRL already has a “College Libraries Section”, therefore it stands to reason that those librarians who truly have college-sized issues are going to the CLS already. Attendance at CML has been low enough that we moved to not meet at Midwinter, yet attendance at Annual is not much better.
- However, the General Membership decided that the listserv remain viable in the event that future membership wishes to revive the Discussion Group. This Wiki page will also remain active.

Meeting Schedules and Agendas
We will not be meeting in person at ALA Midwinter 2008 (Philadelphia), but will meet at ALA Annual 2008 (Anaheim).
We are currently working with Special Topics to offer a program in Anaheim along the lines of "How do you collect for a language you do not speak?"
